A state of suspension.
A state of stillness.
A state of mind.
A desiccated corpse slumped beneath a palm tree, hollow eye sockets turned toward the sun.
No time, no worries, no future.
Teeth bared in a frozen smile.
The creak of an old swing.
The color of oil paint peeling from a wall.
The roughness of concrete slabs.
The taste of courtyard dust laced with blood.
Objects, colors, textures, sounds, and lighttransport us into an idealized, utopian, lost world.
An unreal world. An inner world.
A world built of synesthetic, overlapping memories.
A world alluring only to us, unnoticed by others.
A world of absurdity and madness.
We return to it to stay sane.
This is nostalgia. We yearn for a place we no longer inhabit– if we ever did, did we?We polish the past, and when our longing collides with reality,we’re left disenchanted.
The long-awaited childhood vacation becomes somethingwarped in adulthood.
The mind seeks proof of happiness once imagined, trying topreserve a sense of safety.
Patterns shaped in childhood, despite the illusion of growth, still trap us in a vicious circle of stagnation.
Like a carousel – we turn in circles, repeating the same script.
Forever vacation is an illusion. A collage of convenient choices.
An endless journey into memories that defined what freedomonce felt like.
Drugs, gadgets, fleeting pleasures: all offering momentaryescape – or maybe we simply lack the courage to overtakethe truck that blocks the road to our dreams.
Forever Vacation is a world where the line between returnand escape has blurred.
A world where we don’t stop – we just loop ourselves into anendless wait for a break that never comes.
Do we long for rest, or just the illusion of it?
Or perhaps for the people we once hoped to become, whennothing was expected of us?
